Where does confidence come from?
Some people would argue that you are born with confidence and others would argue that like anything else you can build it into your foundation over a period of time. As someone who has had a lot of confidence, then lost all of it, and had to rebuild it back from ground zero I would side with those who say it can be built.
Perhaps you have none in your life at the moment, or perhaps you just desire some more because you know exactly how much it would aid you with making choices. But really, where does this confidence come from?
Focus on the little things. Focus on those little daily actions that you could get away with not doing but do them anyways because you know they will help you become successful. When you make sure you are doing the things that will take you one step closer towards your grand vision, you build confidence in yourself in accomplishing tasks as well as the faith necessary to head in a specific direction.
Then, when you start to build some serious momentum from doing the little things right, you can raise the bar on your life and start going after bigger goals. Those bigger goals become more doable because you have the background and experience of doing all of the little things right. That's what confidence is really made out of. Confidence is built from knowing you can perform a task because you have done something similar before. Confidence comes from trust.
So sweat the tiny stuff. What if you fail? Take a step back and refocus on what you can attain, and try and try again. This is a pretty simple path towards success if you think about it. In fact, the quantum leap is exactly what you should not be focusing on.
Lots of individuals get put off when they try something gigantic in life and fail. In reality most people will try something 3 times and then give up without ever coming back to it. But if you build some significant momentum, you'll have the confidence to try something over and over until you get it right.
Those little daily choices are the momentum builders.
Build some major momentum behind you and you are really capable of amazing things. But first, you have to sweat the really small stuff.
